Thanksgiving means family, food, and festive traditions. While many cities roll out the red carpet with massive parades featuring giant balloons and marching bands, Temecula takes a different approach to the holiday season.
Here’s the truth: Temecula doesn’t host a traditional Thanksgiving Day parade. But before you feel disappointed, the city offers something even better, authentic ways to celebrate that let you create your own holiday magic without standing in crowded streets for hours.
Race Before You Feast
Start your Thanksgiving morning with the Made2BFit Turkey Trot & Food Drive on Thursday, November 27, 2025. This marks the 13th annual celebration of this beloved community tradition at 28582 Harveston Drive. Races kick off at 7:00 AM and wrap up by 9:00 AM, giving you plenty of time to shower and help with dinner prep.
The event features a fun costume contest where creative Thanksgiving attire wins prizes. This year adds something new: Wobble Line Dancing to get everyone moving before the big meal. Top three finishers receive awards, and the whole event doubles as a food drive to help local families. Registration closes November 25 at 11:59 PM, so sign up soon.
Wine Country Feasting
Why cook when someone else can do the heavy lifting? Europa Village Wineries & Resort serves a Thanksgiving buffet from noon to 5:00 PM featuring traditional holiday dishes with Spanish flair. Adults pay $79 and children $39, but you need reservations.
South Coast Winery also hosts a Thanksgiving buffet from 11:00 AM to 3:45 PM in their Courtyard and Barrel Room. Executive Chef Jon Alcala creates a feast designed to please every palate at $85 for adults and $39 for kids ages 5 to 11.
Old Town Charm
While Old Town Temecula saves its big parade energy for Santa’s Electric Light Parade on December 5, the historic district remains perfect for a holiday stroll. The area’s boutique shops and cozy restaurants create a festive backdrop for family photos and leisurely walks.
Beyond City Limits
Just 30 minutes away in Riverside, the Mission Inn Festival of Lights launches the week before Thanksgiving on November 22. This spectacular display features 5 million lights, 200 animated figures, and the world’s largest mistletoe. The festival runs through January 6, making it a perfect outing during your long holiday weekend.
Other Southern California communities host turkey trots in Oceanside, Dana Point, and Big Bear Lake if you want to explore beyond Temecula.
Make Your Own Tradition
Temecula proves that Thanksgiving celebrations don’t need giant balloons or televised spectacles to feel special. Whether you’re burning calories at the Turkey Trot, savoring wine country cuisine, or simply enjoying time with loved ones in Old Town, the holiday becomes what you make it. Sometimes the best parade is the one where your family leads the way to the dinner table.
